I am a research fellow of the
Department of Computational Methods
of the
Institute of Computer Science, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.
Until now, I have spent there more than 25 years.
Since my graduation I have been always teaching. My favourite courses
have been Methods
for Sparse Matrices , Graphs algorithms , and
Implementation of Numerical Methods.
Until 2009 I was full professor
at the Technical University in
Liberec.
I appreciate very much to be
honored in 2001 jointly with Michele
Benzi by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM)
with the SIAM Outstanding Paper Prize for the paper:
A sparse
approximate inverse preconditioner for nonsymmetric linear systems, SIAM Journal
on Scientific Computing 19(3), 1998, pp. 968-994.
I am a member of the team led by Zdenek Strakos
which was awarded in 2006 by the
Prize of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech
Republic for Important Scientific Contributions.
Since 2009: Vice-president,
Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic
